We sat down with L.A. native and RTS artist KBKENNI to give you, our fans, a glimpse into her creative spirit. We love her because of her charm and uplifting attitude, and we think she's definitely an artist to watch. Here's what she has to say!
What first go you into music?
Singing at family gatherings! My dad was in music. He sings. He covered rock songs like Elvis when he was the lead singer in a band back in the day. I looked up to him and it got me motivated to write poetry and start vocalizing. He still helps me!
Who is your biggest musical inspiration?
J. Cole, because he always tells a story. It's almost like country music, there's always a story. That's what I always wanted to give to anywho who listens to my music.
If you could open for anyone, who would it be?
J. Cole, duh.
What is the most uselsss talent you have?
My wife says I'm good at everything! haha
What is your creative process like?
I get a full tank of gas and go for a drive. Just put on some good music and coast a few hours. Sometimes I just relax first. A few years ago I would just walk around with a tape recorder and record whatever thought came to mind.
What is the best advice you've ever been given?
Recently I just got it from a buddy who said, "just let things work itself out."
What topics do you want to write and sing about in the future?
I want to write a lot about my motivations and what's happening in my life. I also love just helping people brighten up their day.
